As with all good plans…it started in the pub!,

We had a very loose plan which involved seeing as much of Europe as 4 weeks would allow, while also spending some off bike time by Lake Lugano with friends.

Turns out we had camped the night in some kind of demilitarised zone and that could have been the Russian army looking for us in the dark!

Cappadocia is a hot dry desert area almost in the middle of Turkey and standouts out due to it’s strange looking rock formations known as the “fairy chimneys”. 

The Triumph Tiger 800 is a very popular adventure touring motorcycle here in the UK.  For reasons only known by Triumph, they use two different diameter clamp bolts M10 on the top and M8 on the bottom.

Having ventured all around Central Europe and then having travelled much further afield The Balkans was not somewhere I had thought of visiting really.

At this point we came across the first warning sign for land mines in the area and decided as a group that we must not stray off the tarmac at all costs!

Just a quick write up for an impromptu ride up and around Scotland at the end of February / start of March on the Suzuki DR650 & Honda Africa Twin.  

Even after packing my bike numerous times on the week leading up to our leaving day I never could quite get all the gear in without having to force the bags shut.

Staring at the map of the world we can clearly visualise our route as it travels east from the UK, through Europe and across the centre of the Asian land mass.
